This book, Text and Atlas—Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy for Assessment in Cataract Surgery, deals with cataract surgery. Though there have been state-of-the-art advances in the evolution and technique of cataract surgery, absence of careful examination and assessment of cataract on the slit lamp can lead to troublesome intraoperative complications. Careful preoperative slit lamp examination of cataract still remains the gold standard ‘insurance’ to avoid intraoperative surprises and vision-threatening complications. Though there are numerous textbooks and treatises on cataract assessment, there was long-felt need for a practical handbook that would delve extensively into the varied aspects of slit lamp examination techniques prior to cataract surgery; yet at the same time remain concise, lucid and illustrative. A unique collection of slit lamp photographs of cataract are included in a book. The book will be helpful to all doctors of undergraduate, postgraduate level, for surgeons who started cataract surgery and for those who are already in the field of cataract surgery for sometime. The book will also be helpful to optometrists and paramedical people who are concerned with cataract surgery.
